Star Wars: Republic Commando Demo
by Maarten Goldstein, Feb 01, 2005 11:22am PSTA Star Wars: Republic Commando demo has found its way online through the Jedi and Sith Academy Clan website, allowing you to try out this Unreal engine powered squad-based action game from LucasArts. The hefty 421mb download includes one singleplayer mission. Republic Commando will be released on Xbox and PC in March.

I chose to download the file to J: because I don't have much space on C: , the file downloads temporarly to C: for some reason.
need to know what folder in C: IE temporarly downloads stuff to so I can change it to another drive.

And add these beloe it. There's no optin for it in the GUI, but I copied this out of my UT2004 User.ini and the mouse was suddenly a million times more responsive.

As others have said, all the suqad commands are totally scripted, the weapons feel severly underpowered and it's completly linear. On the other hand it looks great and runs great, and it's Star Wars, so... I'm on the fence about it. Will probably get it based on this demo, but at the same time I'll probably wait a week to see if Comp/Best Buy/Fry's has an early promo sale on it.

Otherwise just not very fun. The squad spends most of its time dying and/or getting in your way when they're not "parked" at a scripted location, and as far as I can tell there's no good way to tell them to run ahead as bait. If there is a tutorial for the squad handling, they should've included it in the demo.
The weapons aren't any good, and they don't seem to give you enough ammo except for the ghetto stuff.

Twice in a row a squad member got stuck to a rock (different rocks each time), unable to break himself free and causing me to restart the level.
