Take-Two Interactive today announced that it has signed more Major League Baseball related deals, following up an agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Association with deals with Major League Baseball Properties and Major League Baseball Advanced Media. The company also signed New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter to a contract to be a spokesperson and cover athlete for 2K Sports baseball games. GameSpot has an interview with Take-Two's Paul Eibeler about the deals.

GS: Why specify the preclusion of third party publishers? PE: We just never felt it was our position to cut out the hardware companies. We look forward to working with the hardware companies and we think that it's beneficial for us to be as a partner with them, not the one that cuts them out of the business. From day one, in all our conversations, starting with football, we said that we don't believe in the exclusive marketplace. We believe that there should be a competitive marketplace, and this is just a way of that falling into that presentation.

Hopefully he'll get hit with a Madden or SI like curse and be out for the season.

Take Two's HQ is in New York City; that may be a large reason.
