anyways, here's the deal. right now my budget is about 500-900 (maybe 1000). currently, the most intensive thing i do is lightwave, but i would like to play games again. i mention lightwave because it seems that p4's seem to do slightly better than a64's. initially, i was leaning towards a64s, but i'm not sure, i guess its going to be decided on a cost basis, unless someone can convince me other wise.
i'm fairly confident i'm going to get a 6600(gt) video card, most likely the xfx one. should i spring the couple extra bucks for pci-e or stick with agp? the card seems a little cheaper for pci-e, but the mobo a lot more ...
if anyone has any advice, i'd greatly appreciate it.
zipzoomfly, tigerdirect, newegg, where else should i look? i'd like to get it as much complete from one place as possible ...

What version of xbmc are you using? Is it better to use something like 1.1 or one of the daily builds?
Also, i heard xbmc has autoupdating now? I thought I had a newer version but mine doesnt have it.
What skins are you people using?
Also, what is a good skin for avalaunch? Is avalaunch better than evox?

I'm finding myself having to defend the upcoming mini-mac purchase to people who are not Apple users. The one thing I keep running up against is the "Megahertz Myth" that people point to when comparing say a 1.24 megahertz Apple to the higher clocked PC's. Is there some kind of table, etc someone has set up to show equivalency between the powerpc stuff Apple uses and say intel or AMD?

I became so attached to this game that at times I felt like I was there; doing dirty work, collecting money, and acquiring places. The game just felt so real to me. Perhaps it is because I lived in Miami for seven years, so I was familiar with the atmosphere. I didn't feel this way with GTA3. Hell, I didn't even finish GTA3. I really hope San Andreas does not let me down; it will be pretty damn hard to top Vice City in my eyes.
I'm 64% complete, so this game still has a lot of life in it for me. Even once I reach 100%, I'm going to sit back and enjoy the beauty that it is.

I found some comparing dlp and lcd, but it compared a 20" to a 50" (LCD limited resolution blah blah).
I currently have a 42" plasma, and I like the vibrancy of the color, but the parents have a hardon for closed captioning and Im noticing its already burning in. Which pisses me off..but anyway
My buddy wants to buy a big screen and he likes the vibrant picture of the plasma, but also likes the clarity of a DLP he saw, but noticed that it was a bit dark, and doesnt know anything about LCD.
Ideas?

MTV relaunching MTV2
NEW YORK (AP) -- This year, the only thing MTV is exposing during the Super Bowl halftime is a revamped network.
After producing the infamous Janet Jackson halftime show last year, MTV will launch a new look to its sister station, MTV2, during the February 6 game break. MTV and MTV2 will both air a preview special of MTV2, featuring a combination of music, shows and random content aimed at young males.
"Our audience is looking for an alternative to the Super Bowl halftime show and we felt that the new MTV2 fit the bill perfectly," said Van Toffler, president of the MTV Networks Group.
The official halftime show on the Fox broadcast will star Paul McCartney. Last year's show, produced by MTV, resulted in widespread criticism after Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction."
MTV2, a network showing mostly videos since 1996, will launch a new format at midnight on February 7. The new MTV2 is composed of music videos, new shows, graphics and random clips "that have been scoured from the Internet, old B-movies and the public service dustbin."

How much do you charge for basic HTML web design, and in what format?
ie, do you bill per hour, or simply give package rates for a complete site?
