The news item also promises an update on the Half-Life 2 mapping contest soon.
In other news, the Vivendi Universal news page has word that Half-Life 2 has sold 1.7 million copies worldwide so far. Thanks GameGossip.

I can't believe it's 2005, and somehow a company cannot prevent pirates from both a) playing on retail servers and b) using their OWN content delivery system to steal the damn game.
People say "Ooooh they're recording them and they're gonna get the banhammer!" It doesn't fucking matter, we're talking about banning SteamIDs with NOTHING ATTACHED TO THEM. No CC, no name, no games. You ban a pirate/hackers SteamID and they're back in 15 seconds with a new one.
For the time being, Valve, at least have the damn sense to require a customer to own a game before they can register for a SteamID. How hard is that as a patch job, I mean if you can't actually secure your shit might as well just patch it for the time being right?
Why is nothing being done about this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I really look forward to not being able to play Half-Life 2 every time Valve releases new Counterstrike content. Really. I do. I'm not kidding.

The cs_ scenario is really so much fun, wish there were more quality maps that people would be willing to memorize and play in the rotation.

One of the best, most popular CS maps ever and you'd think they would port it at some point...
