Take-Two To Publish Civilization IV

Take-Two Interactive has announced that it is the new owner of the Civilization franchise (at least in some form, the company says it has purchased "certain rights"), and have signed Firaxis Games to a multi-title publishing agreement. The new 2K Games label will publish Sid Meier's Civilization IV later this year.

The fourth game in the PC strategy series that has sold over five million copies, Sid Meier's Civilization IV is a bold step forward for the franchise, with spectacular new 3D graphics and all-new single and multiplayer content. Civilization IV will also set a new standard for user-modification, allowing gamers to create their own add-ons using the standard Python and XML scripting languages.

Anyone else here not really able to get into Civ3? I loved Civ2 but never really got into Civ3. It might have been because of the timing when it came out (my life got busy - never really stopped) but perhaps it wasn't such a good game?

Later this year? That's either optimistic or scary. Civilization III wasn't finished when it was released. It became a pretty fun game by the time Conquests came out, but Firaxis never fixed any of the interface problems.

I don't like the exclusive sports games but no one plays baseball games so it isn't that big of a deal ;)

Take Two is acutally publishing semi-original games while bathing in money from GTA.
