Make Something Unreal Contest Winners

We were sent this press release, at long last announcing the winners of the $1,000,000 NVIDIA Make Something Unreal contest. Big winner is the Red Orchestra mod, as the team receives $50,000 in cash and an Unreal engine license worth a cool $350,000. Other winners can be found at the Unreal Tournament website.

of all the mods I played ... this was the worst one of the best. It had high production quality, but it is the least likely I would buy as a full game.

ALL of these mods deserve to win. Anyone who takes the time to make content and distribute to the community FOR FREE should be applauded. I think "the community" forgets just how fortunate we are to have people willing to do this and a developer willing to shell out cash and their bread and butter to make it happen.

once RO came out i completely stopped playing UT2K4, and i played it for at least 3 straight months, i think that alone states how much this "mod" stands out as a game

I played all of the UT2K4 mods (at least all of the ones in the contest) and RO deserved this prize. It's the best UT mod and one of the best of all time.

So how does getting an Unreal Engine license help them? Are they going to start selling it as a retail package? Just curious since at first glance it sounds like such a cool prize, but then after taking a closer look I wonder as to its usefulness to a mod team.
