So, I've just discovered this awesome "new" band I'd never before heard of called Nightingale. It's a Dan Swano project (Dan Swano is some huge name in swedish metal or something). However, this is NOT A METAL BAND. It's something more akin to Opeth's work on Damnation. A very 70's influenced progressive hard rock sound with organ, acoustic passages etc.

Anyways, I'm very impressed. Nothing they play is especially unique or groundbreaking, but every single song is well written and enjoyable. I haven't had much luck finding the songs I particularly like online to share with you, but here's a track from the new album (Which I haven't yet heard) which is quite good.

More straightforward and less prog than usual, but I really like it (especially the acoustic section midway through. Beautiful). Give it a listen. :)

Thats all we are going to get? This mission was probably the only chance in our lifetimes to see something unique (I doubt there will be another mission to Titan any time soon) and all we get are some tiny 50x50 pixels pictures, in blank and white?! I know raw images will be processed, stiched, 'photoshoped', but I doubt we will get anything close to the quality of rovers images. :-/

mine is

diamond stealth, then diamond monster3d, then followed up by nvidia TNT2, then followed up by nvidia geforce2Mx,then nvidia tnt2 vanta version, then nvidia geforce2 Ti, then Geforce3 Ti then Geforce4 4400, then geforce4 4200 then geforce 5200 then geforce 5600 then Geforce5900 then two geforce6600 (never used returned it back when the board didn't work) then went back to 5900 card... Shit i have never had a high end card. Shit i always get stuck in the middle of the road. I'm planing on getting a 6600gt or 6800Gt... fuck why not just get a 500.00 card the geforce6800Ultra..

Any warriors here? I read the warrior forums and they are all whining about the class. But I've always been a warrior in mmos. So looking for some opinions from shackers who are probably a bit higher on the ol intelligence food chain than some people on the WoW boards.

I must admit....the MP3 ringtone thing has me hooked....

The standard rings all suck and are the most annoying shrills things imagineable, so I can pick and choose my own good tunes that also fit the people I assign them too....

I'm taking a social research methods class, and it is the only non-lecture hall class I've taken at UB. There's about 30 people in the class, and at the end of our first session the instructor said "this happens with every class I have... the guys are all on the outside of the classroom and the girls are in the center." Everyone was looking around and all the guys were lining the outside of the desk setup. Its sort of a filled-in have circle setup, with the desks on the outside pointing toward the center-front of the room. He said to think about why this happens and he'll explain it the next class.

So I've thought about it a total of 2 minutes since then, and I think maybe it has something to do with the fact that men tend to be more of the quiet type, keeping to themselves, while women tend to socialize with each other more. It just filters out from that, perhaps? I'm thinking maybe this does influence it a bit, but the explaination wouldn't be something so easy.

But anyway, the real meaning of this post is to proclaim that 80% of the social research methods students are female early childhood education majors, and 60% of those are hot as hell! Great class!

So, I saw this ringtone thread, and because of the Codec ringtone, I declared that I must have it. I've unlocked the seal to verizon's get it now ringtone crap. You can make your own!

Requirements:

Verizon Wireless (duh)
Phone with picture messenging. (IMPORTANT)
Picture Messenging plan (or you pay some nominal fee for this)
Intarweb
A small wav file ( < 20 seconds )

OK, find your wave file. I used http://www.seaw0lf.com/001_codec.wav. Then hit up the verizon picture messenging site here:

https://www.vzwpix.com/login.do

Login (they send you a password by text if you don't know it), hit up the Upload Files section, upload the wav. Then, compose a message with the wav file in it! When you recieve it on your phone, save it and then it will be available for you to use as a ringtone!

Disclaimer -- I only tried this with a Samsung a670. YMMV. That said, I'm going to make so many damn good ringtones now! :D

ok just beat Riddick:Escape from Butcher Bay, just wow
for a game that came from nowhere it easily tied with hl2 and doom3 as the best FPS from last year.

Rant About Game Enemies

Ok, Game Devs, please listen up..

NO. MORE. SPIDERS.

Let's get a little more original here ok guys? Almost ALL the games I have played recently, has had SOME sort of freaky arachnid in it. Even MechAssult 2: Lone Wolf for shit's sake.. WoW, HL2, Doom3, MA2:LW, Bloodrayne (bargin bin pickup), etc.. The only games that i have not seen a spider in lately has been Burnout 3 and EVE Online..

Is it REALLY that hard to create a unique enemys/monsters that AREN'T SPIDERS?! sheesh..

Heavy snowfall warning for
Halifax Metro and Halifax county west issued

Snow at times heavy is forecast for today for these areas giving up
to 15 centimetres mainly over higher terrain and inland sections.

This is a warning that heavy snow is imminent in these regions.

hxman won my printer on ebay but didn't want to pay $40-50 to ship a large, heavy object to him, so he said to make a video of it being trashed.

Starring in the video are 3 friends of mine, Dan (silo), John (nakedjohn) and Matt .. Though I doubt any of you know any of them since they don't post here. No, I'm not in it.

Recorded using John's Sony Handicam, with the Night Vision (hence the green, obviously)

Well, that's odd.

I woke up this morning with a severely pulled groin muscle. It hurts like hell when I walk, sit up rapidly, or twist in the wrong way. It's a bitch! And I have no idea how it occured. I'm talking teeth-gritting flashes of pain.

Anyone running 802.11B and 802.11G networks in close proximity?

I'm pondering putting my yee olde 3com wifi router back into service as B and having the linksys in mixed mode (B/G) on individual SSIDs and different channels....

Am I likely to cause a rip in the space time continuum by doing it?

(the aim is to not force the G hardware I've got around the place to roll back to B in line with the router and other clients when I've got a base station I could dedicate to B on a different channel)
