CS:S Update Released
by Maarten Goldstein, Jan 17, 2005 4:06pm PSTAs promised, the latest Steam update is out with the Counter-Strike: Source bot and a new map called de_tides. There are also updates to three other CS:S maps, as well as these changes/fixes/improvements
- Optimization to the way that dynamic props are checked. On higher end CPUs, this can result in more than a 5% total frame rate increase - Fixed bug where players would get twice the normal money at the start of a round - Weapon models are now checked at startup to make sure they are within limits for size - Fixed a bug that would allow a player to throw two flashbangs at once - Added "motdfile" cvar, which sets the filename for the message of the day on the server - Fixed logic that will automatically kick players for killing hostage or being idle for a long time

The Map: Looks very, very nice and plays well performance wise.
The Bots: I tried them on the "Hard" setting. They run around the corner and headshot me every time, but if I come up behind them they don't even turn and shoot me as I kill them. They also can see right through smoke grenades. *yawn*
Needs more shackbattle with no bots!

Steam is updating... and eating up 100% of my CPU useage. I never noticed this on previous updates.

I don't like em, I wish they didn't bother wasting their time making them. I'm not playing a 'multi-player' game, to in the end play a 'single-player' game.
I dont want bots. I hate bots. I hate joining servers full of bots.
Am I the only one that dislikes bots?
(dont get me wrong. AI programming that goes into the bots is awesome! and congratz on valve making them. But I dont want bots for CS is what I'm saying. Leave the bots for the single player stuff.. a la HL2)

Like HOW much time coding to you seriously think it would take to prevent people from throwing 2 Flashbangs?
(I'm disappointed in valves speed in bringing us such (what appears to be) simple fixes... at this rate.. DoD:S / models / and all the other glorious maps we all want will take WAY to long to release)

i just updated my audiodrivers upto the latest version, and i added this command into the console (from steampowered FAQ) mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware "0" and i still get a vert load cracking sound when i play de_dust, de_dust2 and de_aztec ...?
i have a SB audigy2 soundcard
anyone got any idea's, cause this is a real big problem :/
