Marathon For Free

Bungie has released content files for Marathon, Marathon 2 and Marathon: Infinity for free, allowing you to play the first person shooter series under Windows (though Marathon 1 needs some extra steps) using Aleph One. Mac files are available as well. Thanks Halen.

Very cool. Halo casual players should know that many of Halo's gametypes came directly from 'Marathon'.

While I was in school in '96 studying about digital media, we played Marathon 1, Mararthon: Durandel, and Marathon: Infinity all the time at lunch.

So much fun. Bring back the Double-Handed shotty action!

  I heard somewhere that Halo was actually a prequel to Marathon, in the sense that Marathon is set in the same universe, even if it takes place far far after the events of Halo.

        Myth was actually far and away my favorite RTS game. I really can't get into RTS's for some reason, but Myth was fantastic.

        God I LOVED Myth I and II, my fave RTS games ever (followed by Starcraft).. but yeah, Myth 3 sucked balls, really.

        Yeah I've never understood why anyone had a problem with the camera. It was sooooo much cooler than the boring top down views that standard RTS games had.
