EA Exclusive Sports Continue
by Steve Gibson, Jan 10, 2005 11:43am PSTIn case you thought EA was done buying up sports licensing rights, EA has just nabbed up the AFL (Arena Football) exclusive rights. Although not nearly as popular as the NFL that they also bought up, or the NBA which they bid for it can certainly be called a pattern now. The NHL and MLB I'm sure are not far behind. Thanks Chris
The partnership is a perfect match when considering customer demographics of both the AFL and EA. According to the ESPN Sports Poll, the AFL indexes at 186 for ages 12-17 and 127 for ages 18-24. Approximately 46 percent of all 12-17 year olds are fans of the AFL.

Best example is Burnout 3. I love love love this game. Ever since the first came out I was completely hooked. When EA publishes Burnout 4 (rumored but obviously being worked on), I'll still be the first one to buy it.
*sigh*

I was hoping VC would score the Arena Football rights :\ Arena Football is pretty fucking awesome to watch live and I think VC would have done an awesome job with the license... EA, on the other hand.. meh.. it'll be like Madden-lite
i'm thinking it's so ESPN can't use it.
College Football 2k5 is my only hope for next year...

Who cares, they (other companies) can make good games without player and team names.

SCANDALOUS!
Dear EA, Please spend some of the mountains of cash on sequels to those great games from your (/your absorbed companies') past - more System Shock, more C&C, more Ultima, more Syndicate, etc etc.
