Evening Reading
by Steve Gibson, Jan 03, 2005 7:17pm PSTWell I suppose 2005 is pretty cool so far. I can only assume there will be more robots and flying cars by the end of the year doing our bidding and getting us to the supermarket.

Never again will anyone question what the URL to find the Shackmeet page is. (I'll be adding the www.shackmeet.com URL when it becomes available to forward)
Also, I've put up a new Seattle Shackmeet with a specific date:

Any good sites for going over the pros and cons of each technology (crt, rpcrt, lcd, dlp etc)? Alternativly, have there been any good shackposts on this topic?
I know a lot of you have fancy tv's. What did you go with, why, and what would you do different if you were to buy again right now?
i know of avsforum, but its kinda overwhelming for someone who knows nothing about any of it really.

Been playing lots of CS:Source and plan on getting HL2 deathmatch installed asap. Sorry about their size of the pics, and they're also a bit blurry but I'm a noob when it comes to pictures.

OMG! JUST WHAT THE INTERNET NEEDED! ANOTHER F*CKING BLOG...
btw: The "new" Screen Savers (you'll see soon) will rely heavily on "community" participation. I'll be relying on the Shack to provide ample kickass links and other assorted random goodness. Of course the poster (and the Shack website itself) will get full credit for anything leeched from comments or ShackMessaged to me directly.
So yeah, if you've got something "cool" that hasn't been poached by 1,000 other sites/blogs, feel free to msg it to me. Of course, I'll keep trolling the boards for stuff as well.
Thanks Shack! Hope you kids enjoy the blog!

It seems most of that is adjusting for the rapidly collapsing value of the dollar, but it's rare that apple adjust for that mid product cycle, so yay!

A new V-Tech Cordless phone with Vonage built-in: http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000947025858/
This is pretty sweet.. just plug the base station into your router, and you've got two 5.8ghz cordless phones for your vonage. Not sure if you can add more handsets tho.
Also, they've announced a WiFi handset, so you can use your Vonage account anywhere there's a hotspot:
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000053025857/ (no picture yet)
This is also awesome, but I don't know if it'll cost extra to use it... it shouldn't, imo.
Anyway, if anybody is thinking of signing up for Vonage, here's a referral:
http://www.vonage.com/?refer_id=v8133711teapv70n1ea5
It gets you a free month, and me two free months.
I saved over $600 last year which is so sweet (YMMV). Highly recommended.
