First Post!

The holidays are over and done with, and it's back to the regular daily routine. Boring! Yesterday was pretty good for fixing a few new design bugs. There's still a bunch of stuff left to do but we're getting there. Also on FileShack

  • I was looking at some old Tribes screenshots, and I got to thinking. Tribes (at least the original one) was pretty fun, and it was really just a bunch of tiny military buildings strewn throughout a landscape.

Well, what if you could sorta go and place those buildings? Like drop them from big ol' starships or something. You could drop little bunkers, or factories. Kinda like the animations for building stuff in Dawn of War. I bet if they did it right it could be a really great experience.

I suspect something like this has been done in the past, like in that Command and Conquer fps game (was it called Revenge or something?). But it probably wasn't done all that well. For some reason I think it would be really great if you could just drop these buildings into terrain, and they could be permanently tilted based on the general shape of the patch of land they landed on. Like you just dropped one of those little Starcraft bunkers, but you could can't see out of it all that well because it landed at a 20 degree angle.

    Is this stupid or not?
