Half-Life 2 Demo Released
by Maarten Goldstein, Dec 20, 2004 1:54pm PSTAs promised the Half-Life 2 demo is now available. The demo, which includes several early levels from the game along with part of the Ravenholm section certainly isn't for the bandwidth impaired, as it's a 751mb download.

I was very impressed with the graphics and while yes level 1 was a tad bit boring with no bad guys, level 6 was awesome IMHO.
Just my 2 cents.
j/k
framerate was alright-ish with everything to low at 640x480, load times were almost too much for me (especially starting the game, that took over fifteen minutes)... but honestly, I wasn't really impressed with the game. yeah there's quite a lot of nice stuff, and the atmosphere was great (better than in any other game I've played... I am usually NOT jumpy, but I did have a few 'oh fucking hell, NO!' moments), but overall I've played better demos (scrapland for starters) and don't regret having to postpone buying HL2 until long after WoW anymore.
that is until I see the first DoD:S gameplay video...

While I still have my full version and cannot activate it with Steam (becaus of firewall) I hoped that at least the demo would be playable. Too bad I hesitated to sell the game to someone with private internet-access, as i only have secured company internet. Now i can really smoke ever playing HL2...

Anyway, it looks like the demo is just chapters 1 AND 6, not 1 to 6.

One thing i'm wondering is how many levels does this really include? I don't think it would include the beginning of the game all the way up to Ravenholm. Perhaps just some random levels between there and the beginning?

Sempron 2400+
512 Mb RAM PC2700
Geforce2 (possible upgrade if games really really worth it)
It doesn't seem to let you actually play the demo.
It's not listed in my "Browse Games" or "Play Games".
Or in my "Programs / Valve" menu.
