First Post!
by Maarten Goldstein, Dec 19, 2004 9:51am PSTJust a few more hours until I fly back home, really looking forward to all those hours of travel! Went and saw the Mavs play the Hawks yesterday, which was fun (despite the blowout) as it was my first NBA game to see in person. The AAC is a great stadium. Movie: Do not be messing with me right now. I will kick your ass.

just a friendly reminder that AS's Xmas programming is on tonight. It includes Xmas episodes of Family Guy, Futurama as well as two new 15 min shows, Tom Goes to the Mayor and Venture Brothers which is what I'm mainly posting about
the VB Xmas special is on at 11:45pm, and only a 15 min special, but still sure to be packed with awesome. Check out a preview here: http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/571/571895p1.html
For those of you poor souls left out in the cold, Venture Bros is the damn funniest new show on AS and normaly is on at 11:30pm on Saturday, though next week it won't be played thanks to Christmas day.
warning shameless plug: here's a good site to learn about the show, which I also happen to run: http://venture.mancubus.net/

http://www.shackbattles.net/battles/view.php?battle_id=321
We will be playing Battlefield 1942 with some custom Shack maps.
Aparently there is a v1.61 update out for the game. Dont upgrade to this yet.
I have aquired from the powers that be, Ashke, the ability to change maps and restart the server. I would still like to try to get a rotation together beforehand so that we can do it uninterupted. Please make suggestions below.
Here is a list of suggestions so far:
BattleAxe
Battle Of Britain Objective mode
Liberation of Caen
Appelflappen
Stalingrad
El Alamein (probabily to big..)
Aberdeen
Iwo Jima
Kharkov
Tobruk
Long live BF1942!!

For those that may remember, I collect antique japanese swords. These things can be found at gun shows sometimes, or at garage sales, or in oddball antique stores or sometimes in the attics of relatives.
If anyone is interested in doing some scavenger hunting, I will pay between $500 and $10,000 for particular swords. This summer a guy in Chicago found a sword at a garage sale and paid $50.00 for it. I told him who it was made by as I can read antique Japanese used to sign these things, told him what it was worth to me, and paid him $6,500 for it. I have sent the blade to Japan for restoration which will cost me another $3,000 or so, but it is a very nice blade by a good maker from around 1938 and I'm happy. It would have cost me more to go to Japan and find one by this guy that was already in a full state of restoration.
What does the enterprising scavenger hunter need to do?
1. find a blade
2. send me some good photos of it so I can assess it
3. ??? I will tell you what I think it is and what it's worth to me... the difference between this (i.e. in the case above, $6500) and what you pay (i.e. in the case above, $50) goes into your pocket... I do not need to know how much the difference is, unless you need help negotiating with the owner and want my input. This is to make sure you know you're getting a fair number from me.
4. Profit! You acquire and send to me, I send you the cash... if it gets to me and it craps out when it gets here for in-person inspection, then worst case scenario is I send it back to you, I pay for all costs, and refund what you paid to get the blade. And you keep the blade. I assume all risk, so the worst case thing is you get a cool free blade to flip out and kill pirates with. Best case is $$$ in your pocket.
Notes: a lot of the blades floating around are just junk, machine made, replicas, chinese fakes, etc. However there are some good old blades in circulation, and those I am looking for are usually between 50 and 700 years old. That's why it's important to take and send me photos if you want to play the game. That way you have no risk other than lost time.
The reason that these blades exist is because veterans "liberated" them from Japan in WWII... there are roughly zero in Canada where I come from. There are about a million in the USA. Again: vast majority are junk. By liberation, in some cases they were legitimate spoils of battle, in some cases they were given as part of a surrender, and in some cases they were actually stolen from shrines and such.
Don't bother with ebay as your source for searching. I scan that place constantly, and whenever something good comes up collectors make backchannel deals and pull them out right away. It's a waste of time. Don't bother with anything internet related in fact. I have seen them all probably already.
Local estate sales, garage sales, oddball antique stores, and relatives who may have served are the legitimate sources. In the case of relatives of course, there's a moral duty to share earned dollars.
I will repost for daywalkers then that will be it. I thought it might be an amusing way for some of you to make some cold hard cash, and a good way for me to send some feelers out into areas that I could otherwise not reach.
Hopefully something will be found!

Just weeks after a pair of Danvers High School cheerleaders got in trouble for boozing it up before a football playoff game, comes word that two more girls were booted from the squad for shooting a homemade lesbian porn video . . . which eventually fell into the hands of almost everyone at their school. According to students who've seen it (snippets were brought to school on cell phones and digital cameras) the tape features two scantily clad juniors--naked from the waist up--and appears to have been made off campus, possibly over the summer. The buzz about it started about two weeks ago when it was e-mailed from student to student. On it, one of the barely dressed cheerleaders is seen kissing the breasts of the other. News of the "naughty cheerleader video" spread quickly through the school and according to one lucky student, "All of a sudden, everybody comes into school saying, `There's porno! There's porno! There's porno!' ''. Shocked school administrators won't confirm why the girls are off the squad and will only say that an investigation is ongoing
why hasnt this video been posted yet?

I was watching Project Runway on Bravo earlier, and almost every commercial break they had the new Victoria's Secret ad. They flash a second of Tyra wearing a silvery lacey bra. I can't for the life of me, find the damn thing on their website.
Any of you avid Tyra/VS fans out there know what I'm talking about or have a picture capture of it?
Please help a monkey out!

The funniest part about it is the quote from his lawyer. We at least hope to recover his costs from this. Why didn't he just say, as long as we get paid that's all that matters!
