A new Steam update is available and will automatically download the next time you restart Steam. A few fixes were added to speed up both Steam starting up and the opening of Half-Life 2.

I dont like the fact that Steam boots up when your playing single player Half Life. Theres no need for it. Yes it still works when you start the game when offline but there should be an option for you to turn off connecting to Steam when playing the Single player.

I'm moving and dont have any internet connectivity. When I try to play HL2, it gives me an error "hey, you're not online blah blah, would you like to RETRY or PLAY OFFLINE. When I click, PLAY OFFLINE, it just says that its unable to connect to the Steam network and to visit their website for details.

I'm not online, WTF can I visit the forums?

Please help! KTHNX!

Steam loads much, much faster. This is very nice. I didn't really notice an improvement in game loading times, though.

weeee now I can't login! I've been a staunch defender of steam but the last two updates now have been snafus (last one caused all source games to crash on startup). I sure hope this sort of thing isn't going to become a regular occurance.
