Also, why does this game feel so unfished. I beat it the day it came out in 9 hours on hard, and while it was fun, I was hoping for so much more at the end. Granted I hated the dirty planet at the end of the first game, but it was still kind of cool and a few new suprises were thrown at you (eg. spiderthing with the giant nut sack). And 2 DM maps, c'mon.
It seems like if the game was delayed so long because of code theft they would have had time to add all these extras.
Version of a rant I posted about WoW (specifically the shack Horde guild - GCR) on the boards there but for those who don't visit them.
I for one am sick and tired (and I am sure I am not the only one) of people spamming items in the guild channel with no context. I mean I have no problem with people saying they got XX item on this quest etc. but morons who just like to dump their loot over and over in the chat is pissing me off. It seems people are just idling there waiting for an opportunity to shit-click their stuff.
Noone really cares, and I don't see how it's being helpful to guild members at all. This MMORPG stuff may be new to me but I thought the point of a guild was to enjoy playing with others and helping everyone out whenever possible.
I realize how all this came about with the fact that a few people got high level and formed little cliques, ended up doing instances before anyone else and kept spamming their crap in the channel.
This happened with oneshot (not the shack oneshot) who ended up leaving the guild after people got pissed off at him doing this. Well Synn (moogle) and a few others do the same thing and I don't see how it's beneficial to anyone at this point. The same people are extremely cynical and tend to be the least helpful of anyone in the guild which is dissapointing considering they should be helping everyone else. Not all the guys at the top are like this but there are enough that it is noticed.
So relax, I'm glad you got your drops and we would like to acknowledge your l33tness but stop spamming the goddamn channel and maybe make yourself useful or at least don't be annoying.

Just follow these steps on the City 17 map.
1) Get the magnum.
2) Wait for the magnum to respawn. Kill anyone who comes near the magnum spawn with the magnum.
3) Once magnum has respawned, pick it up with the gravity gun, and chuck it as high and far as you can. You can only do this if you're full of magnum ammo and have the gun.
4) Switch to a different weapon and play. I did this, and played for 20 minutes on ashkie's magnum free!!

- No death penalty. I remember when I played Everquest for a little while, my character wandered into a high-level area and was killed instantly by a nondescript hostile NPC. I had to respawn at my home base, and couldn't locate my corpse (there was no corpse marker on the map), so I logged out. I then realized I lost ALL MY LOOT and at that point, I quit the game - forever.
- Rapid early leveling. In EQ, again, it took my a good solid couple of days to reach L5, and I had almost no special abilities or decent items. In WoW, it took me 90 minutes to reach L6 as a Tauren, and I have two offensive spells, two defensive spells, and a full set of decent armor. And several quests in my queue.
- Location, location, location. The maps are incredibly useful and detailed. Everything vital is marked, and you can talk to guards to find locations. Everything is easy to find, including trainers, inns, and special NPCs.
- No class envy. I've played two race/class combos and have seen two more in action firsthand, and they all seem worthwhile. There's a way to develop any class into a powerful, versatile, or purposeful character. Class envy is a thing of the past!
This is just gameplay stuff. The cohesive and imaginative art style, grandiose music, crisp sound, and silky-smooth interface all combine to make WoW an addictive masterpiece.
I can't imagine not playing it all the time...

I'm good but i'm not THAT good. I hadn't played this for years, nor have I played any quake in years either. Must've been a server full of new kids or something. They couldn't seem to grasp that when firing rockets, it's best to fire WHERE YOUR ENEMY IS GOING, not where your enemy is presently at. Also, hitting him is not priority, hitting around him is good enough. etc etc.
Seemed like they couldnt fire/run at the same time, alot of them stopped or started jumping in really small areas :-\.

I picked up yet another copy of Curse of Monkey Island today for $4 (the rerelease from 2001 that includes Monkey Island 1 and 2) because I wanted to drop it onto my powerbook (ScummVM rules) and got a big ass Half Life 2 promotional poster for free.
Now if anyone could be so kind as to point me to somewhere where I can buy all of the Putt Putt games that are supported in SCUMMVM, that'd be hot. The only one I have is Putt Putt's Fun Pack, and that's because I got it around the time i got my 486 :(

But holy jesus does it need to be toned down. Just played a match on Ashkie's where 4 or 5 of us on the team had magnums, and it was a slaughter. So cheap, we just nailed anyone who got anywhere near us. They had to approach slowly using items as a shield with the grav gun - and even then they couldn't get all of us before we one shot killed them.
Make it headshot = instant death only. Or something. As it is now, it's almost boring. =(
