Evening Reading
by Steve Gibson, Nov 30, 2004 5:30pm PSTWell it looks like some Half-Life 2 deathmatch tonight! (I hope?)I suppose I coulda fussed around with some commands to play sooner if I was really eager. Hopefully there are lots of toilets, otherwise I will complain about that teaser image being misleading.

Honestly I liked Halo 1's co-op play better, especially on Legendary... The new legendary is hard (though not quite as bad as I initially posted about), but more to the point it's annoying sometimes - enemy snipers who have somewhat varied spawn positions and kill you in one hit is NOT fun. Coupled with the dying penalty (you have to start over from the last checkpoint if either person dies), the thrill I got from tearing through a section with my bro and I staying one step ahead of annihilation was quite a bit of fun. It was a great things to be kicking ass and taking names... then lose just a bit of concentration and get smeared. I felt like I was accomplishing something when we played. Now it's more a game of patience, which while okay in small bits, does not make a fun game for me.
To cut to the chase, I think Bungie didn't make the SP their masterpiece because they were playing so much MP. I've seen videos with guys saying they played every night for over a year... after jumping on live, I can see why. Damn this game is fun.... Virtual couch really "makes" it for me... how come there aren't more posts of <3 for Halo 2 MP on live? Too busy playing?? :D

MP bothers me as well. Maybe I'll get used to it, but I have a lot of gripes.
