welp, i just got f'd in the a. finished updating source, same issue as many of you have, wont initiate any source game. reverified, nothing. then out of the blue, got a runtime error when even trying to start steam. proceeded to uninstall steam, thinking that certainly, one would retain all the game files and whatnot.

that thinking stopped when i finally get it reinstalled and discover hl2, hl:s, cs:s, condition zero, codename gordon, pretty much every archived game on the list, has to be redownloaded. i think my inital <3 for steam has been at least slightly tarnished.
