After playing through both Halo 2 and Half-Life 2, there was one difference between them that stood out greatly for me: their soundtracks. Both games appeared to have totally differing views on how music should be handled in a game. Halo 2 used cinematic pieces that were used to set mood and to enhance the cut-scenes. Half-Life 2's music was as far in the background as it could get, popping up intermittently to bolster the adrenaline during intense fighting. While I believe both served their purposes, my aural preference are those pieces that make me remember a moment for the rest of my life, something Nobuo Uematsu has done many times.

PS2 MLB 2006 Announced 989 Sports will take another swing at creating a perfect simulation of Major League Baseball as they announced plans to continue the MLB series for another year. There are two big improvements in the pipeline for the 2006 version. First, 989 will institute Branch Point Technology, a supposedly revolutionary way to transition between animations. Also new will be Pitcher Confidence, making the player pay special attention at how he/she pitches. Throw errant balls and the pitcher loses confidence and their skill ratings drop. MLB 2006 is slated for a spring release next year.
