Anyone remember the original Unreal, there was a MOD that let you Deathmatch as various enemies from the game: The Skaarj (fast and tough, but only 2 weapons); The Brute (huge and slow and very tough); even the Fly (extremely small and fast but easy to kill).
It would be so cool if games like Doom ]|[ incorporated their monsters into Multiplayer.
Think about this: An Unreal Tournament-inspired "Assault The Base" mode in Doom ]|[, where one side plays the Marines (defending the base from attack) and the other side gets to play various monsters from the game attacking the base (say, trying to destroy 4 parts of the installation to win)
Or you could reverse is, and the Marines are trying to destroy the portals of Hell.
The Marines have more stamina and health and weapons available to them. The monsters are killed easier, but have their special powers and maybe there are also NPC monsters helping you out.
Or what if you got to play the Cyberdemon ?!?!

Here is my LASIK experience.
Everything went pretty smooth,
The things that stand out the most in my
mind was the fact the doc drew points on
my eye with a sharpie or some marker.
and the smell of my eye burning away.
I went with custom lasik and the cost was about 3600 bucks.
My eye insurance paid around 400 bucks.
for me the difference between custom vs. standard,
was 10% better on one eye and 11% one the other.
I took the valium maybe 10 min. before the surgery
and I didn't feel it kick in till way later. I had to
go get some drops from the pharmacy (my friend drove)
and I could barely stay awake. I have a total of 3 drops
I need to take.
1. 3xday for 2 weeks then 2xday for 2 more weeks.
2. 4xthe first and 2nd day.
3. regular eyedrops whenever my eyes feel dry.
while It didn't "hurt" I could feel pressure when
the doc was cutting away with the blade.
And the clicking sound of the "freakin" laser beam
shooting my eye.
Also they used these eye latches (think clockwork orange)
to keep my eyes open then they taped my eyelids open.
I kept waiting for Beethoven to play.
After the surgery I could see pretty much the same
and after an hour I could see about 40% better.
when I woke up (~4 hours later) I could see 90% better.
the doctor told me since custom takes longer (about 1 min more)
then regular lasik I wouldn't see the full effect of improvement
for up to a week. I feel my eyesight is improved 100% by now.
I don't have any "halo" effects (or I don't yet) and really happy
with the results. A+++ would recommend.

So last night I installed UT2004. Super fast install (God Bless ya, DVD Edition). I loaded up the game, turned everything up to high settings (although kept the video at 1024x768) and it ran smooth as buttah. Not butter but buttah. ~70fps.
Beautiful.
I will be installing Vampire: Bloodlines, Battlefield: 1942, and Battlefield: Vietnam later today. And maybe I'll even order HL2 Silver over Steam.

WoW is a wholesome rpg, with a variety of environments, character classes and races, but it's lacking the trademark EVIL present in the Diablo games. Even heavenly shrines do not escape the sense of evil oozing in.

Did Gordon rescue anyone? I mean, he only kicked Dr Breens ass but did the city go free? In the little tour we got inside the citadel there seemed to be a lot of firepower walking around and the little time I spent in the city streets I didn’t see anyone really down a strider. I saw a couple of people who tried but they got wacked pretty quickly.
Or perhaps we blew the whole citadel to pieces in the blast but that means Alyx is gone too and that is a no-no for HL3.
Perhaps Barney learnt to kick some strider ass?
It almost feels like Matrix – Revolutions where everything goes as the architech said it would (the destruction of zion to the point that only a few survived and the matrix is restarted yet mankind think they won…)

My impressions have made a 180. I just completed Nova Prospekt and I must say, the last five or six hours of gameplay has been utterly engrossing. The buggy segment out of the canals, the crane sequence, the massive battle for the bridge, the gunship attack on the little encampent, the whole assault with the ant lions, everything has been superb. Items are just where they need to be. Weapons and ammo are just plentiful enough. Bad guys are just tough enough.
I sat down to play for an hour and it turned into nearly four!
One complaint that may be addressed later in the game: not nearly enough aliens. So far it's only been headcrab/headspider zombies, headcrabs/headspiders, and ant lions. What happened to the classics from the original?
