Just about everyone seems to be at fault here, and it will be interesting to see what kind of suspensions and fines will be handed out the NBA. ESPN's Marc Stein is probably right when it comes to this though. I actually didn't play a minute of Halo 2 yesterday, but I intend to catch up during the next 48 hours. Movie: You break my record, now I break you, like I break your friend.

Open the valve.rc file in a text editor; it will be in "(Steam folder)\SteamApps\(username)\(gamename)\hl2\cfg". I have HL:Source and HL2, and they're in both games.
Look for the following lines:
// display the startup level
startupmenu
Comment out the line with "startupmenu" by leading it with two slashes (i.e.: "//startupmenu").
Save the file, and run the game. Instead of loading a whole freakin' level, it will show the blurry chapter image, and you'll chop off a minute or so from loading time.

First of all, I loved all of the actual gameplay. The game is chock full of interesting scenarios that you can replay in different ways (thanks to that nifty chapter system). All of the guns in the game had a great feel to them (love the punch of the Overwatch Pulse Rifle. And what more can be said about the gravity gun that hasn't already been said? ) The Combine soldiers were neat in a sort of technologically eerie way, and they reacted a lot like the Marines of Half-Life. The level design was fantastic too.
So why am I not sure about how I feel? For one, there wasn't the interesting Alien vs. Marine vs. You dynamic that was there in Half-Life. The whole conflict in City 17 felt too "black and white" to me I guess. Also I really didn't care for the story in this game, although I wanted to. Minor, general spoilers ahead: Nothing really happens in this game. By the time you get to the point in the game where a lot of your questions could be answered (the last two chapters as it turns out), the game ends. It really makes the whole journey feel sort of pointless and lose significance in hindsight. Maybe I was just too dim to "get it." I also didn't get more information on the Gman which I was really hoping for going into the game, so that was a letdown. Another thing, I realize the gravity gun is wicked awesome to play with, but the weapon variety felt limited. There's really no memorable weapons in the weapon roster, save for the gravity gun, bug bait, and laser guided rocket launcher only one of which is new. Ah yeah, I guess the disintegrating effect on the secondary fire of the Overwatch Pulse Rifle was a lot of fun.
Overall, best game of its kind on the PC right now, but it just doesn't feel as timeless as Half-Life felt.
I liked Halo 2 better

Crazy me for thinking people will want to play Battlefield when HL2 has just come out. But I believe there are others out there, like me, that dont really care about HL2. Most of you have likely finished it already anyways.
Since the games have died down a bit in the last month or so I will only be announcing one game a week, Sundays. Hopefully this way we will get attendance up a bit.
UMax is not likely to be playing much any more due to school and whatnot so I have aquired from the powers that be, Ashke, the ability to change maps. I would still like to try to get a rotation together beforehand so that we can do it uninterupted.

Wow. Wow. Easily one of the best asian films I've ever seen and right up there with my favourite hollywood films. It's absolutely as good in terms of effects, quality, acting and emotion as Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. In fact, there's MORE action, MORE effects, MORE war crazyness than either of those, and it's all top-notch. This is a great movie and I pray to Ares that it somehow gets a north american theatrical release, because it deserves no less.
Anyone who enjoyed Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan even a little bit owes it to themselves to see Taegukgi. It really is that good.

I have a WGR614 wireless router, which spontaneously stopped allowing outgoing UDP traffic over the wireless connection. Like in the middle of a round of CS:S spontaneous and hasn't relented after 2 days :(
The strange thing is that if I plug in an ethernet cable it's all good, but that means running a 100' cord down the stairs and through the living room and that makes my wife sad :(
Has anyone ever had a problem like this? I googled around and found a recview where someone mentions the exact same problem, but no resolutions :P

So after finishing the game i went playing around in the train station where you start at. I found a couple of interesting things.
Turned on cheats then noclip and looked around, found this;

I loved Half Life, basically because a full time job kills free time, Iwon't have the time I used to devote to MP, so would I be wasting money if I got Gold?
I know that probably sounds confusing. I have lots of stuff I have to buy for other people and I feel kinda selfish spending 80 bucks on myself if I can't be sure I will use all of that stuff.
