1. Train first aid as soon as possible, its a free skill anyone can take at no cost. All the linen/wool/silk you find can be used for bandages giving you "free" heals over 1000+ at higher levels.
Bandages can also be used in combat as long as you or your target are not being actively hit. If you have a stun or root spell it is highly effective to bandage while your enemy can't interrupt.
2. Melee classes should try to use at least 2 different types of weapons as they level. Don't just say "I'm going to be a 2 handed sword warrior." Find a 2 handed mace or spear and train it along with your sword (you just use a weapon to train it).
At higher levels you don't want to be tied into one weapon and find a great drop of another type yet lack the skill to use it. Rogues should think about training in Mace, Daggers, AND swords.
3. Skinning and leatherworking is currently not very good. Think about doing mining, herbalism, alchemy, blacksmithing instead. Enchanting is also a bit lacking.
4. If you find a quest is taking too long to complete, or an area is overcrowded go do something else. At any given time you are going to end up with 15-20 quests in your log to do, don't get stuck for 2 hours just trying to finish one.
5. Play in the highest resolution your video card/monitor supports at a good framerate (ctrl-r to check fps). Use the "Scale UI" option in the Video Options and it will resize the UI accordingly.
6. If you need to find something in a town, like a trainer, trader or specific place....talk to an NPC guard. They will mark your map with an X for you.
7. Durability on items increases at higher levels, at lower levels the item durabilities can be so low as to make the system seem intrusive... not so later on.

Another dark day for story driven entertainment. It seems any show which goes beyond normal and strives for interesting ideas/characters is automatically dismissed from television. Right when this show was getting REALLY interesting too. Apparently there are 6 episodes for season 2 that were shot before the show was axed, and they might appear on the rumored box set. Lets hope.
Does this remind anyone of John Doe? John Doe had the most shocking season 1 finale of any show I remember and that shit was canned after season 1 as well. So disappointing, I was really into the whole John Doe storyline.

How do I use the new operator on a structure that I've created? In other words, I want to reserve enough space for x amount of structures (decided by the user at run-time).

Just saw that Meridian 59 is offering a free trial through the month of November. This is an excellent opportunity to try out a different MMORPG that is, more or less, entirely focused on PvP. If you know you shit you can max out a character in a week (if you play *a lot*). PvP is practically unrestricted, only newbies are off limits (you can leave newbie hood in a few hours of leveling). Pubs and similar indoor places are safe havens, so are all towns for non-guild people.
The world has a limited number of guild halls which makes for some really interesting inter-guild wars (you can conquer them).
I suggest you all give this a shot, I mean, it's free! I know it's an old game (first graphical MMORPG?) but they recently released they updated client that actually does shit a lot better then before (sorry, no TES4:Oblivion graphics).

I played FFXI for a long time and spent many many hours leveling up and enjoying the world. I truly did enjoy it. It was my first ever MMORPG and I really loved it, up until level 33.
Once I reached level 33 it became 100% necessary to group. You could not earn XP or anything without grouping, and not only just that but it took easily 30 min - 2 hours just to find a group to do 2 hours worth of XPing. Horridly boring and time consuming. I have plenty of time to play games, but not 1 hour to sit around waiting to get some more party members.
I loved the game up until that point, and miss that immersion in a large world which is why I can't wait for WoW or EQ2. Both seem to have more ability to let you solo the game some more.
My question is, after you get by the initial newbie stages and start to get some powerful powers etc.... does the game stay fun? Does it stay interesting to you or does it just become an XP ladder? This is my biggest worry.

1. Purchased a new 30" Samsung Widescreen HDTV (with built in OTA antenna) - This thing is great!
2. Moved my Z-680's (from one of the four active systems I have throughout the house) over to the Samsung HDTV - they sound awesome in a true home theatre setup, especially now that Doom III hasn't been loaded up in weeks.
3. Picked up a new Progressive Scan DVD (unrelated to Halo 2 but hey, it matches the TV)
4. Sold back my 3 year old "Thomson Drive" based X-Box and three games for a new X-Box bundle (NCAA and TopSpin) even up. It served me well, but the recent random drive errors will be unacceptable if they occur on 11/9!
5. Picked up some new Component Video and Optical Audio Cables. Old ones are on the BIG Home Theater upstairs.
4. Picked up X-Box Live for 12 months
5. Pre-ordered Halo 2 Collector's Edition
6. Finally, installed an attic antenna (50") and am now watching OTA HDTV as I type this.
My wife is in awe at the amount of money a $54.99 game really costs. Shouldn't surprise her after seeing the newegg bill in support of HL2 :)
