November already huh. The month of Halo 2, Half-Life 2, and about 234904593 other games. The weekend was pretty uneventful though I did try out the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within demo. Seemed alright, I just kept jumping off the ship which honestly wasn't much fun. Need to learn the controls better. Movie: You've gotta learn to kick ass if you wanna be a peacemaker

I was finally able to test CS:Source on my machine... Just ran the Video Stress Test on the default settings (which for me was 1024x768, medium tex and models, high everything else).

I got 87 fps, which I was quite surprised at considering I am running a 2500+ (@ 2.2G) and a 9500 Pro (@ 350/280).

Does this mean I will be able to play HL2 quite nicely? Or is this VST a joke?

My task is to write a program to count each ascii code in a text file and output the results to another text file. My problem right now lies in coding the input/output stuff. If anyone had a good site detailing how to use #fstream that would be cool. (cplusplus.com is over my head, I'm a first semester coder). Now on with the code:

Right now the program is outputting the last thing in my input file twice!  So if my input file was "Shacknews", it would output "Shacknewss".  ???  Thanks to anyone who can help (and possibly to those providing humorous input).

How do you guys keep your keys + wallet secure?

I just keep my keys on a key chain in my pocket and have a normal wallet in my back pocket.

I somehow lost my $110 TI-89 calculator so I'm now paranoid about losing stuff. I'm thinking about buying a chain wallet but don't those look kind of "biker"? Maybe it's worth the sense of security. Thoughts? :

Home Networking Problem:

Here is my local setup:
Modem->wireless router-> laptop and my pc
Modem->Xbox

The router is upstairs and the xbox is downstairs. My problem is that I am trying to play videos from my pc to my xbox, which worked perfectly before I put the router in the way. Now that my pc and my xbox are on different subnets, is there any way to get the xbox to stream files from the pc?

a way to save some cash on ram...?

Buying non-brand name ram rated much higher than what's needed vs brand name at rated speed: a valid strategy?

I only NEED stable pc3200 speeds - more would be nice but don't factor in OCing here.

Should I get something like this:
(Kingmax PC3700 $87)

Traditionally I've gone with higher quality stuff, but it seems like the ram should be stable or not - period. I've already got half a gig so if the generic stuff fails right after installation, I can just pull it out and rma it, no biggie. That's the biggest risk I could think of, aside from possibly losing dual channel "goodness"

Whattya think?
