I think that picture of the dude eating corn while doing the chick from behind is one of the funniest pictures I've seen on the shack in a while, especially because of the can of corn resting on her back. My wife and I call that spot her "beer resting spot"

The Fall: Last Days of Gaia

A 3d realtime with pause RPG that follows in the thematic footsteps of mad max/fallout. It might be cool...it might suck! Who knows!

Wow! By 9pm there were over 24,000 visitors from slashdot. Impressive, since we usually only have about 4,000 readers each day. But, here's the interesting part. About 50 readers left very, very detailed comments. Some positive, some negative, some in agreement, some not. Overwhelmingly, the comments were written in ways that no one in their right mind would ever speak out loud. Many were rude, pedantic, assumptive, self-proclaimed experts and, for the most part, the more expert they said they were, the less accurately they read the story.]

There is a very interesting sociology lesson here. Strange as it may seem, the most vocal, most self-assured, and, in fact, the nastiest comments were all left by nameless people without valid email addresses. Why would people feel the need to express their views so strongly (and in many cases wrongly) and remain anonymous? More importantly, why would anyone take the time to write a 500 word response to something that didn't need a response? I wasn't asking for advice and, as a practical matter, I didn't include enough technical info for anyone to offer an informed opinion.]/

My internet at school has decided to be uber gay. Bittorrent can't connect to anything so all of my downloads are greyed out in ABC. Then I try to connect to Steam to test a new bot I downloaded but I can't connect to the Steam servers. Steam then gives me an option of starting in offline mode but even when I pick that I get a message that Steam couldn't connect to the servers and it exits. I fucking hate my connection here.

I got the R3 release of Star Wars trilogy DVD! :)

I already had the R1 set but none of my relatives or coworkers will watch DVDs without Chinese subtitles... Anyway. Other than the nicer clear plastic cases that allow see through art (the DVD cover insert is double sided) the set is pretty much the same.

The spine of the inner cardboard box (the one that holds three plastic cases) doesn't have the word W I D E S C R E E N at the top. Neither do the individual DVD covers. Widescreen is the only version they put out >:)

DVD cover art looks cleaner and more vibrant, but this might be the lack of the jarring silver WIDESCREEN bar creating more contrast in the actual cover.

Another apparent difference was the specsheet. The R1 comes with a specsheet stuck on the inner case with solid/removable glue, much like the one on the Indiana Jones boxset. R3's specsheet is much more elegant. It's inserted at the edges between the inner and outer box, to the same overall effect.

Finally, the hubs on the clear DVD cases are not shitty like I was expecting. They lock the discs a bit more than the Amarays, just enough so they don't spin widly in place, but loose enough so that you can spin them if you want. Like an Amaray, removing and replacing the discs is dead easy and doesn't add much stress to the discs themselves.

CS:Source - Noob impressions- I never played Counterstrike until now.Because I used to play TacOps and Infiltration (Unreal mods) CS always got a bad rap. I downloaded CSS Sunday on a whim and have finally discovered why so many people have been getting cracked out on this game. The fast paced action combined with good team work makes for one of the best multiplayer rushes I have ever had. It turns out that every other game I had been playing had been borrowing rather generously (or blantantly rippig off) from CS. I cant wait for my next CSS Shackbattle. I am a crack monkey. There were so many good runs last nights. I need more. Viva the Source revolution!

Damn. It took 10 tries to send a 4mb attachment through gmail.

I don't see how a system like that can scale to support millions of users. At least with today's internet.
