As expected you can now download the Men of Valor multiplayer demo. The 328mb download includes two maps, three multiplayer modes and three player classes. Thanks GameSpot.

  • I am appalled that all the Previewers that played MoV code so far, not 1 of them has mentioned in their previews how bad the control of your character ingame is. And these are Veteran Preview dudes from sites that have been around awhile. SHODDY.

1: running/walking/crouchwalking feels like Matrix bullettime slow. It is futile to try to run across a street, or sidestrafe to evade. Even crawling takes f o r e v e r. I know many who are already panning this game and refusing to buy because the control is wacked... and not even remotely intuitive or natural feeling. Heck, even Halo PC control feels more acceptable.

2: I am wondering why when we try to crawl in the water, or near the water in the jungle map that the game magically takes control of our character and puts us into a crouch?????

3: The weaps in the demo are functional at best, but terribly balanced, especially the sniper rifle. While it is cool for the scope to come up in split second fashion in the console version, for the PC version that is neither acceptable, or natural lifelike feeling. No view enhancement adjustments, and no recoil=UBER weap.

4: where by golly is the limited jump feature? I see it in the User.ini.

This demo smacks of XBox. Or.... they for some reason unbeknownst to anyone but themselves decided to release a VERY old code demo. Why... is anyones guess. Cause it ain`t cool to release demos not indicative of the final release. Alot of players say yea` or nay depending on what the demo does for them. Right or wrong, many are saying.... Nay!

Are the visuals nice? Sure, altho I see no high rez textures accept for the weaps. No decals etc. Are the sounds nice? Yup... but strangely muted even at maxed out volumes. Control? Blows. Ya want an example of control done right? Play Vietcong.

Long story short, hopefully this demo is old code, and we are not seeing the game code that the Previewers are playing. Cause if this demo is how the final will be, it won`t matter how awesome it LOOKS. It won`t matter how awesome the scripted ingame experience is. Or the sound effects. Alot of hard core mil combat gamers that have waited for this game will not buy it.

I just can`t believe that not a once did any Previewer complain bout the crap control and movment speeds. Either he has newer code than the demo, or he is being payed to NOT post about how bad it is.

If they can make the control in the 1st person FEEL at least as good, natural and intuitive as Vietcong... they have a Hit on their hands. If not? They are gonna take a Rodney King Beatdown at the Store Counters.

Let us all hope the Previewers got almost final release code, and that this demo is old as the hills codewise.
