The Silver Steam option for Half-Life 2 is looking pretty good, provided it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Digital distribution is highly preferred over 6 CDs for me. I know compared to stuff like golf and NFL there aren't too many NBA game owning people around these parts, but I'm sure a few of you are picking up ESPN NBA 2K5 or NBA Live 2005 for the Xbox. I'm interested in seeing the amount of people picking one game or the other, so I will know what to get when I want to play against other Shackers. I do know I'll be picking up NBA Live 2005 for the PC when it comes out late October, as I pretty much still play NBA Live 2004 daily against friends and I'm sure that will continue. Also on FileShack

  • Kicking ass in Rome. Very Hard skill on both the campaign and battle elements + Large unit sizes. The AI is super aggressive on the campaign map and in battles they are quite hard to beat. The Senate and Brutii bailed me out of a few insane attacks and I helped them rout the enemy.

I just completely stomped a big force. I sailed an army down the shore and took a Gaul town before reinforcements could arrive to it. I wanted to establish a foothold on the Gaul's territorial flank and split the war with them to two fronts. Their reinforcements arrived and now had to siege my beachhead town.

They had two rams, my arrow towers lit one on fire and the crew abandoned it. I sallied out 1 general's unit and slammed the crew of the other ram and then immediately pulled them back into the fort. The enemy never had time to attack them.

The crew took up the ram again and avoided the gate and instead tried to take down a wall. I reordered my troops so the eventual hole would be surrounded with several units of histati and one unit of velites. The wall came down and about 1000 men charged into the breech. I had all my histati on guard and fire at will. javelins perforated the crowd.

Once the enemy was truly clusterfucked I ran my 2 generals out of the gates with my backup infantry. The Generals swung around back of the enemy and plugged the hole they made in the wall from behind and the backup troops charged the flank. Gaaaang bang.

1400+ kills, 40 casualties. I had about 800 units. All you wussies playing on Normal skill need to step up to the plate :)
