Half-Life 2 Preload Phase 4

It basically IS an open beta. You just have to go buy a CZ serial key on ebay to play =P. It's only $12 guys...

I really wouldn't mind seeing companies do this more often as long as the prices are reasonable. I would rather be assured a spot on say, the WoW beta, if I was willing to pay $12 or so.

I hate to be on the pessamistic side, but I wonder just how serious VU is about stopping (or preventing as long as possible) distribution methods like Steam. If they view it the way the Music industry views P2P, then they could easily see it as worth it to nip this one in the bud, regardless of any losses. It seems to me like Valve is on the losing side here. VU can take the loss of HL2 not comming out. Valve can't. All VU has to do is get an injunction and drag this out in court long enough to force Valve to capitulate.

I forsee Valve and VU either settling or VU winning, meaning VU may or may not get the rights to HL, but certainly HL2 will not be distributed via Steam. That will have to wait for future Valve games. Gabe and company are smart game makers, but it seems they are somewhat naive about other matters.

I don't get it, by doing this they act like they know, for sure, without a doubt, it is coming out on steam. Otherwise why would they waste so much bandwidth- that cost money. Maybe they are in denial. Cause from what I'm reading Vinvidi won't go for it.

Is there an open beta planned for HL2? It sure would be awesome if they would give everyone access to the CS:S beta... I can only hope

This update seems to be bigger than any other preload I've got... maybe even all three combined. Anyone know before and after sizes of this preload? It's a little late for me, been going for well over an hour. Maybe my steam is just messed up and in some sort of downloading loop.

I guess weve pretty much got all of Half Life 2 if CS Source is being uploaded to us now. With this and the reviews in upcoming mags its seems it will be out in the next month. But the BS with Vivendi makes me think alot, but Im sure Vivendi wont let the lucrative holiday season go buy and lose tons of cash.

How do you make it preload? Mines not doing anything

*sigh* :/ It's hard to stay optimistic about HL2. It's just been hit after hit. The chance that the publisher might delay the release of a finished game (well, release candidate...) is sad... *crosses fingers*
