Though unannounced, both the GameStop and EBGames websites are now listing a Half-Life 2 Special Edition. Carrying a $79.99 price tag and a November 1st release date, the SE features a DVD-ROM edition of the game, a limited edition t-shirt and the making-of book. Thanks PC.IGN.

  • Man, there are a lot of whiners about the CE. Here's a thought, if you don't want to pay that much or you don't care for that extra stuff, then get the regular edition. Seriously, cry me a river.

Granted, I think they should make the regular edition DVD also. DVD drives are so damn cheap now and as you can see from the Steam hardware survey, 3 out of 4 participants have one. Many people have already expressed that they would get a DVD version. If they made the game DVD only, these remaining people will go out and get one. No more 3-8 disc games. They can ship PC games just like the console games in DVD cases.

I reserved a CE because I'm into collecting CE's of games. There are some of us who like the extra stuff like HL:S and since the extra stuff cost more to make, we're willing to pay for it. If you don't have money, here's an idea....GET A JOB, like the rest of us or just don't get it. This is why many CE's have been ruined as far as the extra playable content beause there are so many cry babies who say, "I want that extra stuff too, but I don't want to pay for it." Valve's not forcing you to get the CE, so just get the regular edition, problem solved.
