It's shoot shoot and shoot. Objectives are always just an excuse to have you shoot more than neccessary.

Its very repettitive. The shadows and lighting and "scaryness" of it wear off after 3 or 4 levels, and then its the same thing. They needed to do more "outside" levels, more "hell levels" and less of the alpha labs, mars complex.
There were a few "cool" things in the complex levels, like when you look in the mirror, when your walking in a hall and symbols from hell flash, but thats about it.
I refuse to believe this game can make use of 500mb of textures in a map, because every hallway in the entire game looks the same.
I was dissapointed by multiplayer in the full game as well. Nothing about the multiplayer feels right. The server limit of 4 by the game itself means nobody runs a server, and if they do its empty or full all the time.
John Carmack is god, but ID got lazy when the technology they gave him on this one.

Also, all of your early risers should get OFF the New York mirror and try some of the west coast mirrors.
I am on the east coast (about 12 hours away from NY) and getting maybe 135k / sec download. Switched over to one of the west coast mirrors and my d/l speed is now around 400k/sec
