Late Night Consoling
by Alec Matias, Sep 17, 2004 8:00pm PDTPlenty of talk going on with the NDS and PStwo. I think what is catching many people's eyes are the rumored prices. For the PStwo, despite being redesigned to reduce production costs, word is that it will launch at $149, the current going price for a PlayStation 2. While there'll no doubt be those that buy it for the looks, as many did for the Halo green Xboxes, how can Sony expect to greater increase their market share by selling at the current price point? As for the Nintendo DS, retailer sources have been consistent with a $200 price tag. I expect the hardcore crowd to buy any new hardware at any price point, but how can Nintendo get the masses to adopt a portable that is greater in price than any of the available home consoles? Lets hope these are the kind of "heavy rumors" that are much ado about nothing.

| | Bungie Weekly Update Frankie and the gang took a different approach to the weekly update... they allowed fans to ask them questions in the Bungie.net forums and they answered. Check the thread out which is, as of this writing, 26 pages long. No details, at all, about the story were revealed. Feelings were hurt, however. |

Nintendo DS Commercial:
http://mydocuments.orangemile.com/myvideos/utada_ds_cm.mpg
The video is of a Japanese news bit (the actual commercial is shown about 2/3rds in) on Nintendo's first commercial for the DS featuring recording artist, Hikaru Utada. I'm guessing the timing of this sexy teaser (not my words) has more to do with TGS2004 than anything. Nintendo figuring it could compensate their first party absence from it with hype. If anything, I think it serves more of a promotional vehicle for Easy Breezy (ugh), the first single from her upcoming (and available now everywhere else) US debut, "Exodus." Oh well. The commercial airs today in Japan. :[
