Second, how about hiring someone creative to start reinventing the genre so we don't have all these clones being spit out year after year. When are we actually going to be able to create traps for enemies to be caught in. Heck, Spy -vs- Spy gives you more creative freedom to take out your opponent than any fps has that I've ever played, and that was a side-scroller from the 80's I used to play on my Apple IIe.
I guess I'm growing tired of the lack of freedom in games, we're just getting rehashes of the same old gameplay that we've had for years. The only games that really stick out in my mind have been System Shock II, Thief, Prince of Persia and BF1942 in terms of attempting to push the genre forward bit by bit. It just seems like a lot of developers don't learn, and instead revert back to the simple run and gun method over and over again.
