Daikatana For Christmas
by Steve Gibson, Dec 10, 1999 9:29am PSTWith all the crazyness that came out with word that Daikatana may possibly not be making Christmas, GameSpot has this blurb from an Eidos rep stating that they are in fact still targetting a completion before the end of the year although the game is not completed just yet.
...A spokesperson for the company says that the game has not officially gone gold, as "new versions of the game arrive every day." The company remains firm in their insistence that the game will ship in time for Christmas (December 25).There is a Daikatana shindig going down on the 17th of this month here in Dallas which I'll be showing up at so If I find out anything about the game I'll make sure and let you guys know. As much as Daikatana gets slapped around for the goofy PR they do with trademarking 'Suck It Down' etc I'm still very anxious to play the game. Romero is no slouch, and if the game does come out in his vision, I'm sure it will be good. The question being if the revolving door of staff changes on the team can make his vision.

If it\'s not too buggy- (which could be the case ... since Eidos rejected the gold they submitted last week... and as far as I know.. Eidos SURE isn\'t reknowned for their sparkling clean bug-free products. They may just go the easy \"it\'s in an acceptable state, we\'ll just patch it later\" way).-
then..
I\'m buying it..
The hell with multiplayer only games. Fuck the net.. I want my thrills back.

Bwhahahahahaha
My Christmas will not be complete without Daikatana! But somehow, I still doubt it will be out on time (big surprise), hehe... oh well.! :(
Long live The Romero.
ARGH! I\'m not telling you, or anyone else to buy it! I was MAKING A POINT that it will ship with a full slate of playing options. That\'s it! That\'s all I said! Aieeeeeeeeeee! Read, people, read. Besides, why even bother making a post about a game you\'ve already decided to hate before it\'s out of the box?
LOL! Good stuff. Just wish that I had a Times subscription so I could read the full article.
Oh lord, i got a 55 on one of my finals. Looks like I won\'t be graduating from college after all..... );
Reminds me of Hexen 2.
Full article from May 1999, funny shit:
\"To ride in Romero\'s passenger seat as he swerves in and out of
traffic at warp speeds offers the same delirious, stomach-churning
feeling you get from watching him play Daikatana. Romero is relishing
his pumped-up status. \"When I drive this car,\" he says, \"people know
who I am.\" He chafes at waiting for a table for half an hour at a
crowded Dallas lunch spot. (\"If they knew I was here, we wouldn\'t
have to wait.\"). He imagines his reception in Japan, where he\'s never
been but where his games are huge. \"I\'d probably get mobbed by
Japanese chicks,\" he says.

All I said was that it is shipping with a complete set of options, moreso than any other recent game. You can dispute that, but it\'s fact.
Plus, you haven\'t even seen Daikatana at all - you saw a demo MONTHS ago that was multiplayer only. I HAVE seen it, hell, I have the 11/29 version on my f**king hd...so piss off. Once you know what you\'re talking about, then you can toss out any lame comments you like.
I\'ll be there on the 17th too, Steve. My prediction: R-Gauss takes it home by a landslide ;)
