It seems without fail, whatever I am going to look for at Best Buy, they have 100000 OTHER things I don't need (like 50 copies of Driv3r), but not what I am looking for. Lower courts had already ruled that artists must pay when they sample another artists’ work. But it has been legal to use musical snippets – a note here, a chord there – as long as it wasn’t identifiable.
The decision by a three-judge panel of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati gets rid of that distinction. The court said federal laws aimed at stopping piracy of recordings apply to digital sampling.
“If you cannot pirate the whole sound recording, can you ‘lift’ or ‘sample’ something less than the whole? Our answer to that question is in the negative,†the court said.

As you may have heard, a number of new digital changes have been made to the Star Wars films for this DVD release. As with the 1997 special edition, A New Hope has received the majority of the attention. Many shots have been altered in very subtle ways, which only the most zealous fans will notice. There are, however, a number of more major changes. In A New Hope, these include a revised opening shot as Luke's landspeeder enters Mos Eisley Spaceport (the speeder model is more detailed and moves more naturally), an improved version of the Han/Greedo fight (Greedo still shoots first, but only just - the blasts are much closer together and Han's movement is smoother), a new CG model of Jabba the Hutt (it's a revised version of the Episode I model of the character and is much improved) and re-rotoscoped lightsaber blades throughout the film (blade color is more pronounced and the animation is more like the prequel films).

I can't wait for this hand held fad in Hollywood to be over. Yes it can be used effectively (Saving Private Ryan), but what I witnessed tonight was beyond a JOKE! Surely they would have looked at the dailies and thought, hmm hang on a minute, this isn't working. In the fight scenes I didn't know who was who, I didn't know what the hell was going on in the car chase scene. I'm sure they wanted to make it look kinetic and alive, but seriously...urrghh!! And the thing that pisses me off the most is if it wasn't for that it would have been a really good movie. They should have let Doug Liman direct this one too.

I go up to take a piss, look out my window, and in teh span of the last 3 hours THE ENTIRE CITY IS COVERED WITH SNOW.

Don't listen to anyone who praises Canada, yeah we have health care and foreign countries like us, big fucking deal. WE SPEND ALL FUCKING YEAR in snow snow snow cold wind snow snow snow.
