        In all honesty...after you get beyond a certain number of people for a given project, you start to see diminishing returns (and different projects have different optimal numbers of people ofcourse). You also get into a situation where, if these were new folks, you don't want to let them anywhere near your important project because then you spend a lot of time on damage control and fixing the messes they make. I mean when you're getting the hang of something, you're going to make mistakes and time will either be spent helping you to learn (so you don't make said mistakes) or to fix your mistakes after they're made...this seems to be a case of giving them something that no one else wanted to do, that would be somewhat useful, and that no one could really afford to be taken off working on HL2 for...so its a perfect way to take some folks who are getting the hang of things and letting them pee in the less important sandbox.
