No S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Co-Op Plans

by Maarten Goldstein, Aug 26, 2004 12:12pm PDT

Refuting reports from earlier this week, GSC Game World's Oleg Yavorsky is saying there are no definite co-op plans for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. There were rumors co-op would be added post release, but that was news to the developers - "we haven't made any definite plans yet, so I'm not sure when it will be released, if at all. a patch-released co-op is wrong".

  • for those not in the know:

coop was announced as a multiplayer game mode for stalker not longer after the game was announced. it was listed in their website's faq a long time as a MP mode with some nice features.

around a year (or more? guessing here) they said it co-op just couldn't be done and were scrapping it.

next we hear it's back in and now LIES! still gone.

bottom line: the reason most of us here were looking forward to this game was the RPG/Co-op vibe it had from the get-go that set it apart from most upcoming FPSs and the ones out today.
if you still want to play this game that's fine. some of us just aren't interested anymore.
