On S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Coop

by Maarten Goldstein, Aug 24, 2004 8:25am PDT

Computer & Video Games has this news post on S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, mentioning the game will support co-op..unfortunately not at release, as the feature is expected to be added by a patch. According to the story we can also expect a beta in a few months, before the game's early 2005 release.

  • After playing stalker at quakcon ( http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=8362300 ) I have to say that I think I'm looking forward to this game even more than Half Life 2, which is a bold statement I know, but there was just something about it that made it feel so solid and polished. And the demo at Quakecon was running the DX8 version, so the final version will look just that much better (and hopefully you'll be able to play on a DX8 version in case you have a slower machine)

The idea that there will eventually be coop in this game is just sex, plus I can't wait to see what the modders do with the engine. I could easily see a zombie apocalypse game made with this engine as it coudl easily render a downtown/suburban area that's all decimated and strewn with garbage/burning car husks etc.

Heh, 28 Days Later with heavy weapons. Yummy.
