So im in alpha labs sector 4. So far I have Had the choice of turning on the lights and opening the doors or extending the bridge. I chose to extend the bridge.. (The kids voice telling me to follow him into the locked door wasnt appealing). So Im at the point where I can either A - cross the bridge and enter the new room or B - do what the voice says and follow it :(. I followed the voice untill the secret wall opened up into another room. And now here I am..

Im scared.. Should I continue? :(

ODBC Geniuses.

Okay, I'm in Crystal Reports, and I figured out how to add a field from the Simply Accounting program. companyname.sdb is where the info is coming from. Now as long as Simply Accounting isn't running, I have access to the information, so I can setup the Invoice and print preview it. BUT when I have Simply Accounting running, and I try to preview it (I'm guessing it's trying to access the companyname.sdb file) it tells me that someone named "sysadminSA" is already accessing it.

Am I screwed? Is there a work around? Shouldn't I be the sysadminSA since I am the only one on this computer? I have NO knowledge in ODBC, I'm a virigin right now.

Just finished reading "Syrup" by Maxx Barry.

Seriously awesome book. I laughed out loud several times. It was also very easy to get into, and it flows really well.

If you like somewhat satirical humor, I'd definitely recommend it.

In Half-Life 2 I really really hope they keep their traditional TDM. The reason I say this is because I think they had the best system. Whatever model you play as that is your team. This gives you so much more opportunity to have exciting matches in a pub environment. In my opinion that's what made it even more addictive. You and a friend or two could join a Team Deathmatch server as "the punisher" and take on everyone else. Of course their could be two "Cannibals" , 5 "Gordons" and three "Scientists" running around against you as well. Doesn't everyone think that it's a superior way to have TEAM deathmatch as opposed to say....Unreal Tournaments and other games?
Don't get me wrong I really dig UT2004 DM but the TDM where it's 16 on 16 feels so two dimensional in a Deathmatch setting. Give me multiple teams in half life 2 and I'll be a happy man

So my friend and I went to Fry's yesterday and picked him up a new motherboard and a 2.8ghz prescott P4. This morning I get a phone call from him, apparently they gave him the wrong processor. Instead of the 2.8ghz processor he was supposed to get they gave him the 3.6ghz prescott. Now for shits and giggles I decided to try and go price it and for the life of me I can't find any prescott's higher than 3.4ghz. I know they fucked up royally but is this processor even out yet?

web stuff.
after two months of fucking around with fully valid XHTML 1.1 and CSS 2.0, then two weeks of ActionScript2.0 I've totally come to a decision.

Unless specifically requested otherwise - I'm doing all of my design integration in Flash 7.0 from on. The only XHTML I write is <body></body>

Fuck CSS/XHTML - you can do so much more functionally, and visually with Flash - in far less time, and there are insignificant compatibility issues. Anyone else come to the same conclusion?

I only finally discovered how usable and accessible Flash 7.0 was after doing a bunch of reading to defend it here on the shack, too :D

Gamecube (or other console) to VGA converter equipment! Any suggestions for what to get?

I found a few that worked with the gamecube to vga but a friend mentioned that it might be worthwhile getting something that would work for any/all consoles.

Does anyone have one? Would you recommend it?

It's awesome when the boss is out, and I'm busting my ass with boring paperwork and system issues, and my parter has spent three hours working on a PC that he's fixing for an outside-of-work client. He's getting paid from the company here as well as the guy :/ Awesome. Too bad I'm not his boss or we'd have a little "chat".

I think my favorite Office moment is when the company computer guy is installing a firewall on Tim's computer:

"What are you doing?"

"You wouldn't understand..."

"Maybe not, but what are you doing?"

"I'm installing a firewall."

"And what does that do?"

*sigh* "It protects your computer from script kiddies, viruses, trojans, intrusion attempts, and malicious attacks, any more questions?"

Later...the guy is telling a story to Gareth...

"So I was racing down at the track the other day, and the crowd saw how fast I was going, and they were like, 'he's dead, he's dead'. But I kept going. Then I saw a ramp in the middle of the track. I hit the ramp full-speed. The crowd is sure I'm dead now. I fly off the ramp, flip my car, land on its wheels, get out, and go, 'What where you worried about?'"

I know it probably doesn't seem funny...but imagine it in the dryest British accent possible with completely straight facial expressions. What a wonderful show.

Okay what the fuck.....Alien vs Predator is reallly badly put together...jesus. Ive never EVER wanted to leave a movie this bad before. Like there were nice touched, ie Weyland and the knife trick (Bishop) and the different viewing modes on the predators helmet etc. But damn it started slow and the action was so sporaddic that it seemed like a really slow action movie. There were no great "set pieces" like in some movies for example in the Spiderman movies great fights of Spiderman vs Doc Ock or Spiderman vs Green Goblin. There was just spots of action here, there everywhere....but they werent good....

One of the worst ever

Lol "slight risk". Aside from practically never getting hail around here, I don't think we've EVER seen 3/4" hail, and almost never damaging winds. Also apparently there's no rain or lightning with this mystery storm they're predicting? I swear this feels like April 1st.

Anyway, the real forecast for this area is just a 40% chance of PM thunderstorms, but the morning is free & clear.
