S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Delay

As part of their latest financial statement for the fiscal 2005 first quarter THQ today announced a delay for S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl. The game was originally scheduled for a late 2004 release, but that's been changed to a release during the first quarter of 2005. THQ does not want to launch the game against the likes of Halo 2 and thinks it will get a better opportunity to do well early next year.

Hang on a second.....i dont remember Bungie ever saying they were gonna do a simultanious Xbox and PC release of Halo2!....unless im missing something its gonna be on the Xbox a fair while till the PC version is out, so why is THQ scared of X-Box games? besides its a big lie anyhow....they are pushing the game back simply to spend more time fixing the bugs which im sure with this kind of game there are a lot! they could at least just say that.

geeze...if you're name isn't Bungie, iD Software, or Valve, don't bother releasing any games this year.... put it off until 2005 so you don't get your ass handed to you in sales.

To be honest, the delay is good for them.

I wasnt really impressed what they were showing at e3. It looked like crap and really unfinished.....

I'm disappointed, yet not upset. This allows me to space out my gaming budget. Instead of deciding which great game to buy when they all get released at the same time.

So for me its: Doom3 - August, HL2 - Sept., MOH-PA - Oct., BIA - Nov., Whatever Santa Brings - Dec.

And STALKER - Jan / Feb

they had a playable version @ the cpl on display. it didnt look too bad (it reminded me of chaser for some reason).
but it was a dm what they had running so it didnt see very exciting.

Wasn't area 51 delayed so it wouldn't have to compete with these games too? You know what delaying a game to avoid competition says to me- your game isn't that good. It may not be true, but that's the impression it sends to me.
