As mentioned above, EA is jumping on the DVD bandwagon with a special version of Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, and also Sims 2. Both are pre-order only for now, but at least the industry's largest publisher is testing the market. No more six CD releases please, thanks. Also on FileShack

  • Gah, this is annoying. I think I've got a worm but I can't be totally sure.

The symptoms are that when I first turn on the computer, winlogon.exe will load from the HD for about 2 minutes. It will do this at the logon screen, and keep doing it even if I login. I'm in win2k professional btw.
I have used 2 fully updated virus scanners to check for viruses, but didn't find a single thing. Now, the thing which makes me believe that winlogon is infected is that I did a google search and found that the netsky worm apparantly infects winlogon.exe and searches through your HD for email addresses. Which would explain the loading.

I have downloaded a netsky removal tool, and that did nothing at all.

Is there any way that I can get a copy of winlogon.exe from another win2k machine and copy it over the old one? It's a system file, and cannot be terminated so I have a feeling it's not going to be simple. :(
