While You Were Gone
by Maarten Goldstein, Dec 06, 1999 5:50am PSTNot a whole lot happened this past weekend, but we posted about secret stuff you can find in Quake3 (story 1, story 2), and Zoid released Q3 Linux binaries for running a dedicated server. We also had a demo of someone beating Xaero on the Nightmare skill level. Steve put up some Gamespy tabs for Q3. All in all mostly a Quake3 weekend, with not much else happening.

Just 30 Minutes ago I picked up my copy of Q3a in Munich!

- disconnect from pure server on map change if custom changes
- crash\'s taunt sound same as Sarge\'s
- tolower(cdkey) for rare cases unless they do it serverside now
- IMO, simple encrypt of cdkey and storage outside of config.cfg to stop 90% of amateur theft (packet sniffing, etc)
- compact (autoscaling?) scoreboard so you can actually see all scores and team balance
- a normal splitscreen ctf scoreboard
- ctf flag status on the HUD (major oversight)
- more ctf maps
- more ctf maps
- more ctf maps
There\'s more but I can\'t think too hard right now. Must.. have.. coffee.
\"Lowered Expectaaaations\" MadTV anyone?
Maybe today\'s the day that iD \"announces\" they\'ll be releasing a patch \"soon\" to fix all the annoying little bugs.
