by Steve Gibson, Dec 04, 1999 2:54am PSTOk, well the incredible rush from Quake3 seems to have gotten down to a workable level. I've never seen anything in my life like the number of people hammering the server in the past few days. It's still pretty incredible right now but at least nothing is blowing up anymore. I got my 4 hours of sleep this afternoon and chilled in front of the TV taking a break for a bit. I'll be 'on duty' again for you guys for the next 20 hours or so keeping an eye on things. (and playing a lot of Quake3.. hehe) Of course, the Quake3 messageboard is back online and hopefully for good. I also fixed the target = _self stuff on the Quake3 characters and Quake3 levels pages for you guys.

all kinds of wacky errors, i cant even do a ctrl-f on some web pages without getting an error.
i have the latest mediaplayer etc though, that stuff is cool. the browser though. BUGS. too many to list.
IE 5.1 only has 56bit encrypt. IE 5.5 comes standard with 128bit. The update installer updated pretty much everything except a few things. Stuff like OE, MediaPlayer, etc got updated. Most of the options in IE 5.5 seem the same, I notice a few options added but nothing big.
Best difference I can see so far from 5.0,5.1 is the speed. Holy crap this thing flies. The download is worth every penny for the page loading steriods with 5.5. Your results my vary but most are also commenting on the speed.
I\'d recommend downloading it if you\'ve got the time and don\'t mind taking the risk with preview software.
