WB Interactive's New Royalty System
by Maarten Goldstein, May 26, 2004 7:15am PDTThanks to HLF for a link to this Hollywood Reporter story from a few days ago. The Reporter reports that Warner Brothers Interactive will be changing future contracts, so that game developers and publishers will be hit with an extra royalty fee if the average review rating of the game is below 70%. The idea here being, it will cost you less money if you actually make a good game based on a WB franchise. Of course this idea is not without controversy, with Atari CEO Bruno Bonnell saying "I will never, ever sign this sort of agreement, which effectively insults our business".
