| Nintendo DS Announced As expected, Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo DS today. There are hands-on impressions on GameSpot, IGN and GameSpy. We have some Nintendo DS games screenshots up locally, from WarioWare, Super Mario 64x4 and Metroid Prime: Hunters. An initial list of planned games for the device can be found here and a Nintendo press event recap can be found at 1UP. The Nintendo DS is scheduled for a fall release. | |
| PSP News HomeLAN Fed has a Sony press conference report, mentioning among other things that it doesn't look like there wil be any playable PSP games at E3. PSP System specs and several planned games can be found here. Sony's handheld will be released late 2004 in Japan and early 2005 in North America and Europe. | |
| PlayStation News As expected, Sony also announced a price drop for the PlayStation 2. Effective immediately the console is $149. Sony also talked about Cell, the CPU powering the PlayStation 3. There will be use of Cell before the PS3 release though, as Sony will manufacture a workstation using the chip for release later this year. The workstation will offer users "with the tools for complex rendering, physics, modeling, behavior, rendering, and analysis". | |
| Nintendo News Of course Nintendo's press release wasn't all DS. Nintendo also announced (new) GameCube games including new Zelda ones and new GBA features like a wireless adapter and video playback. And according to IGN, the new Nintendo console has a codename of "Revolution". | |
