HardOCP Sues Infinium
by Steve Gibson, Mar 03, 2004 12:03pm PSTNot one to back down even a little, HardOCP has filed a suit of their own against the Infinium Labs folks as detailed by GameSpot. We've seen this a couple times in the past where big companies attempt to intimidate webmasters and usually succeed. Here's a bit of detail:
In a press release soon to be made public, lawyers representing KB Networks (the Bennett-founded entity that owns HardOCP), refers to the suit as one based on a legal statue commonly referred to as the "Declaratory Judgment Act." HardOCP lawyers explain the act as one that "permits a person or entity being threatened with lawsuits from another party to force the issue to be decided, rather than having to operate under a cloud of uncertainty and intimidation."For those of you who havent been following, HardOCP posted an article a while back that included a lot of information about the background and current status of Infinium and their alleged upcoming console system. Infinium threatened HardOCP with a lawsuit if HardOCP didnt take it down and HardOCP offered to correct any errors instead. Lawsuit fun followed.
