by Maarten Goldstein, Dec 04, 2003 4:06pm PSTAtari sends along this press release announcing that they'll release Unreal 2: The Awaking Special Edition some time later this month. The Special Edition features the singleplayer game, and the new XMP mode which is "a class-based multiplayer game where teams use vehicles, cooperation and Unreal II: The Awakening's devastating weaponry to battle it out across large-scale terrain maps.". Unreal 2 SE will be in stores for $29.99, and the XMP addon will still be released online for free for current Unreal 2 owners.
