Quake3 Music
by Steve Gibson, Nov 19, 1999 2:32am PSTDynamo sent word that the guys from Sonic Mayhem will be part of the team of artists who will be creating the sound track for Quake3. As stated before the Quake3 soundtrack is being done by multiple artists, we have one confirmation though so far now. Dig this:
In addition to other artists, Quake III Arena will also feature all new music by yours truly [ed: sonic mayhem]. We are also happy to announce that we will be releasing a soundtrack based on Quake III Arena game, called "Quake III Arena NOISE -Music from and inspired by the PC game".

I picked up the Fight Club soundtrack today. It\'s really badass, and I can see myself fraggin\' away in Q3 to it.
Having either the Chemical Brothers or the Dust Brothers would be really cool. Front Line Assembly is also doing some work on the music [which is a good thing, IMO]. I wasn\'t all that impressed by the music of Q1 or Q2, but I\'m hoping Q3 will be good.
If not, I\'ll just use my own cds.
I\'m with #14. Reznor has done the best job so far for Quake music. The music shouldn\'t overpower the game, and that\'s pretty much what Q2\'s soundtrack did for me. Like a standard-issue space marine walkman with standard-issue headbanging rock. Cool stuff for an intro or cinematic, but it just gets in the way when I\'m actually listening for the enemy. In Q1, I often go looking for the CD when I play.
I actually like the music from the Q3 demo. With the volume down a touch, it sits nicely tucked away and I only really notice it when there\'s no action on the screen. If id exercise a little restraint, the music shouldn\'t be a problem.
Of course, id will probably leave the option to disable the ingame music so you all can Pantera and Godsmack away if you please...
Walk is about being hard and threatening to beat the crap out of the punkass fanboys who follow and annoy you when you\'re a rock star.
Master of Puppets is about cocaine dealers and why cocaine is bad.
Walk is about violence, and Master of Puppets is not, but neither of them is about hating your life or Satan. Both of them are badass songs.
