    • Personally I though it created a great atmosphere. The medieval themes are well implemented and the sound effects come through great with a3d.

The monster AI is good and keeps you thinking. (Those eyes looking at you from dark corners are neat.) As for the mist.. it was a challenge at first but eventually became just an annoyance, I could do without.

As for the graphics, it could have used a few more polys in some places. Some of the textures lacked depth. It performed as well as any other comprable game.

Overall, it\'s a good demo but not something I\'m going to pay $50 for in the store. Maybe when it gets down to $20 =)

    • How about some REAL thoughts on the game? How about some
facts to back up these lame posts of \"this game blows ass!\"
      and \"this game looks/plays like shit!\"

First off, the graphics are cool. It has this medevil/castle thing going. The enemies? Atleast they are something decent to kill, they have some pretty original monsters in here. Killer mist? Where else have you seen that? It fits in to the game well. The sounds are pretty spooky too. The single player experience is MUCH better than Quake/Quake2/more than likey Q3. Yes the multi sucks nut, but sometimes I like a single player experience as well. As far as performance? The game ran great in 800x600 details on high, on my
P2-350/128MbRAM/TNT/v2 SLI. I\'m on DSL so I wasn\'t even trippin\' on the download. Sorry for you modem users that were pissed when it wasn\'t the next game of the year. Something different from the same old \"let\'s shoot some stupid looking models in a borning yet pretty techno metal what ever you call it world.\" I\'ve been playing sence qtest, but the same game with better graphics 3x is getting kinda lame.
Yes I\'ll buy q3 and play the shit out of it, but i will spend more time on a game like this.

    • I\'ll agree with everything skid (#29) said, and just add 1 more positive and negative thing. The first room on the intro map was beautiful because of some good textures, but that went downhill fast. I also liked the way the monsters stare at you from the dark... I\'ll leave it at that for those who haven\'t played. But god damn is that game slow once you start actually playing it (don\'t be fooled by the opening level). And what\'s really stupid is if you lower the resolution and use \'F2\' to get info on the items you pick up, it actually switches back to 640x480 just to show you the little help screen and then switches back (the help screen holds about 1 sentance worth of info, just dump it to the console for christ\'s sake). And you think with any other engine that thats something you could deal with, but not in this game... it takes literally 5 minutes for it to \'precache\' for both the help screen and then going back into the game. I am not joking if I needed to know what\'s going on with a weapon it was a good opportunity to go get another bowl of cereal and check whats on TV or take the dog out or something.

77 Megs downloaded in 30 minutes, played for 15, and deleted. Woo.

    • I didnt really find it to be good looking either.
Its probably just because it uses a \"made for glide\" engine, and im running on a tnt. but its looks so bland, even with everything turned on upto the highest setting.

For example, take the deathmatch portal room in the start map. I\'ve got detail texturing on and everything, and it still looks like total crap. The bridge pulsates if you look down on it, and all the textures just seem to be a bland shade of grey. It wouldnt matter that much if it was a detailed room, but its extremely low-poly as well. Ends up looking like something made out of grey blocks.

I couldnt find any atmosphere in it, which was a surprise. I was expecting it to be loaded with that, considering its using the unreal engine in a fantasy setting. perhaps it was the lack of music, or crappy graphics, or just my system (cele-450, 128megs, tnt) because it struttered even on the lowest graphical settings. or maybe it was boring sliding monsters who basically had one attack. (run after the player clawing until it dies, or shes dies). The clouds were the best, most orignal part in the demo. Really liked those.

Im not biased against it or anything, i really really wanted to like it. Havent played a good single player game since SystemShock2, and this looked very interesting. I really love fantasy/medevil settings but the demo simply sucked. As it stands right now, i liked the single player game in Unreal a LOT more than this demo.
