Activision - Viacom Lawsuit
by Maarten Goldstein, Jul 01, 2003 8:09am PDTAccording to this PRNewswire article, Activision has filed a breach of contract suit against Viacom. This involves the Star Trek license, Activision is saying Viacom (which owns Paramount) is breaching "its fundamental promise to continue exploiting the Star Trek franchise consistent with its practice at the time the agreement was signed in 1998". Since 1998, only one movie was released, two series were cancelled or ended and the one show that is on TV suffers from low ratings. That's not good enough for Activision, as they say this diminishes the value of the franchise. Because of this, Activision has terminated their agreement with Viacom and wants to see some cash money.

activision litigating against viacom for not putting out. iow, nobody gives a shit for a franchise that should have died years ago, and activision didn't see this coming.
classic.
The fact that they're not making any more ST games for the forseeable future is a shame too. ST:EF2 is a great game.
