Tribes 2 was the best multiplayer game in the history of FPS gaming in my opinion. (Yes even a bit cooler than Quake 1, and slightly better than CS)

Damn i cant wait for Tribes Vengence, i think im more excited about this than Doom 3 or Half Life 2. I just hope its more than just a graphical overhaul.

My only comment is: Please someone give them a clue about art design. The Spinfusor looks like a sack of shit. I hope it's not indicative of the final product. I also hope the Unreal engine is up to the task. I also hope Irrational is up to the task :\

Ah... another Tribes game. Can I go back to playing Tribes? I wonder... I played Tribes 1 for the longest time... Tribes 2 for very little time... even after boosting my PC's power by a factor of 2, due to it's incredible slaughter of the gameplay I so like in T1... T1: ARENA forever! Yeah...

the blue tribesmen's jumpjets look quite similar to the space marine's jumpjets in warhammer 40k - a similar four jet makeup, similar shape
i mean its really cool, so i like the look even though its similar to me
and especially as they're blue, they look like ultramarines : )

All joking aside, I hope it turns out well. I hated Tribes 1, but once Tribes 2 got fairly stable, I actually got into it a lot. The vehicles added speed that was missing from Tribes 1 for me. I hope they don't try to make it too fast, nor that they try to slow it down to levels so slow that I'd have to be on Thorazine to not get bored within 5 minutes.

Most of you are missing the point. What made the original Tribes great was that it played great even over a 33.6 modem connection. Trust me, I had no broadband in my area and still racked up countless hours playing that game. It was all about gameplay and the graphics were nothing compared to Quake3 or Unreal Tournement but the original Tribes still garnered a HUGE following. It was all about speed and execution on the desktop without having to have a GeForce 9Billion card installed. Tribes 2 comes out and it was bulky and buggy and it flopped HARD. The return rates were through the roof and it became a bargin basement title in 3 months.

Considering how XBOX HUGE the maps are, I think it looks great. You graphics loving people are just weird. Try comparing this game to Planetside instead of your everyday FPS that's all enclosed in tight areas and has _some_ outdoor enviroments.

You know, graphical issues aside, I'll be happy if the draw distances are comparable to what we're seeing here in the final product. I'm tired of playing games and staring at a wall of fog 100 yards away. Bf1942 has this problem, though SOF2 is the king. At least Enemy Territory lets you see what you're aiming at.

I hope it's not like Tribes 2 where everything was so "balanced" it was just weak. My Gatling-gun-esque hand cannon should be able to shread a person in under 10 seconds. Instead the ammo runs dry and they guy still had 50% health left. That=ass.

Not to mention the sniping...that was just ugly.

Is this using unreal Netcode?? coz it just sucks for 56kers Tribes 1 and 2 must of has the best netcode i have ever seen, i can play on 32 player servers with little lag and a ping of about 200 or less

unreal, even on a 4 player server i get crapy pings like 600+

I get the impression that the spinfussor doesn't look right in a still. Esp. giving that this is Unreal Engine stuff, I bet they got shiny and bumpy and spinny and glowy stuff going on that doesn't work right in a screenshot.
