pretty sad when even the thought of a million dollar contest doesnt really get my nipples hard about UT2K. I love UT, played for years now, and still probably play 10 hours a month. It was always the one game you could count on, assuming you had decent ping and some skills. 1x1's in with Bonnie and Clyde, RageX and Meth, some killers with brains and the skills to sigh...good times, man. I remember seeing willhaven absolutely thrash some punk smartass in Barricade with some of the most incredible moves, it completely changed the game for me.

It was about gameplay. Oh yeah, and it was pretty.

The new one is an assclown. Call a spade a spade. It was a halfassed last minute compilation of shat that should have been filed under "first map attempts". Only a few of the maps have even decent layout, most are filled with clunky shit that hangs the playermodels, and what the hell is up with the pint sized models? Oh yeah, and the fact that there are powerups and weapons every 3 feet makes it pretty much pointless to even bother playing with any strategy other than "hold down the W, and the fire button"

There are more UT servers up right now than 2k3 servers. Is it any wonder why? Epic kinda bit the hand that feeds them with a halfass effort on their PREMIUM product. Unreal never sold that well, while UT was a winner. I just dont get it I guess, must be one of those things only game company guys understand. All I know is that I had a big boner for 2k3, and after playing it not even a $1,000,000 facelift gives me a quiver.

Holy crappin bitterboys, that's a pretty harsh reception for the biggest boost to the mod community since... since... uh? Carmack's ferrari?

I dunno, I went the Quake-QIII-Battlefield route, so maybe that's why I'm not feeling the pain.

I think this is a really good way to spark more interest in the mod community and officially supporting those video training manuals will make it easier for people to learn rather than trying to read pages of tutorials.
